Three provost and vice president of academic affairs candidates interviewed with faculty, administration and student government representatives.
James O'Donnell interviewed March 1, Munir Quddus on March 5, and Alice Griefe on March 8. Lynette Olson, interim provost, interviewed Feb. 19. All candidates have written applications posted on GUS, under Internal PSU Documents.
O'Donnell is currently the dean of the School of Arts and Humanities and professor of music at Wayne State College in Nebraska. He is the director of the College Honors program.
Quddus serves as dean of the College of Business and professor of economics at Prairie View A&M in Texas. He is the director of the Center for International Business and the Small Business Development Center at Prairie View.
Greife has been the founding dean of the College of Science and Technology at Central Missouri State University since 2007.
Attendants of any of the candidates' interview sessions were handed evaluation sheets, sponsored by the PVPAA Search Committee. Committee chair Stephen Meats reports the feedback to President Steve Scott.
Grades for candidates ranged from not acceptable to outstanding. The evaluation sheets had room for comments on a candidate's qualifications and suitability for provost; areas included experience, vision, leadership, communication skills, management skills and support for diversity.
Scott will be making the final decision on the next provost.

Alice Greife
Greife addressed the matter that PSU is a hidden gem and needs to be promoted better.
"It's all of our jobs to do that," Greife said. "We should try to get enough money to allow faculty and students to go to conferences. We (CMSU) have a good relationship with our local paper. We (CMSU) target market to high schools. It's harder to do with fewer funds."
In response to a question about book prices, arguably the greatest expense for any student outside tuition and basic living expenses, Greife said that CMSU uses a different system than PSU.
