Free tax
services available
Pitt State students involved in SIFE, Beta Alpha Psi and the Department of Accounting will be participating in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Students and low-income households ($38,000 or less) are qualified to receive free tax services in 105 Kelce.
Assistance is available for the following forms: Form 1040 EZ, Form 1040 A, Form 1040-V, Schedule 1-3 & EIC, Form 1040, Form 1040-ES, Schedule A, B, EIC & R, Form 2441 and Form 8812. Times for assistance are: 5-9 p.m. March 11 and 25; April 1, 8 and 15.
No appointment is necessary. To receive help, bring last year's tax return, the birthdays and Social Security numbers of all dependents, W-2s, 1099's and any other tax documents. For more information, call 235-4561.
Spring Break
hours for rec center
The Student Recreation Center will be open during Spring Break for all students and current faculty and staff who have purchased memberships. The recreation center will be open 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, March 12; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, March 15-19; 3 p.m.-10 p.m. Sunday, March 21. The recreation center will be closed Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14, and Sunday, March 21.
IKE info session
An information session about the International Knowledge and Experience (IKE) Certificate program will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 11, in the Collegiate Room in the Overman Student Center. Options for study abroad in the fall will also be discussed.
SART hotline changed
The hotline staffed by the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is no longer in operation. The SART hotline has been replaced by one operated by the Crisis Resource Center of Southeast Kansas. The new number to call is 1-800-794-9148. In addition to a 24-hour hotline, the Crisis Resource Center serves victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, with crisis intervention advocacy, temporary emergency shelter, supportive counseling and victim support groups.
