Congresswoman to speak

U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Kansas, is scheduled to be the speaker for the Profiles of Women in Government Series at noon Friday, Nov. 13, in the Wilkinson Alumni Center. The ninth annual speaker series is sponsored by the PSU Foundation and the university.

Biology cook-off

The PSU Biology Club will be hosting a chili cook-off from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Oval. A bowl of chili will cost $2 and $3 for a dessert and drink. Any student or employee of PSU qualifies to enter the chili in the cook-off. To participate in the cook-off, send an e-mail to psubiologyclub@gmail.com.

Drinking presentation rescheduled for Nov. 10

Kim Novak's presentation on drinking, "Choices: Changing the Drinking Culture on Campus," has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom. The event is sponsored by Student Prevention and Wellness and Gorillas in Your Midst.

Hickory Creek Farms

Family Fun Days at Hickory Creek Farms are every Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. now through the month of October. For more information, go to hickorycreekfarms.com or call 632-4294.

Artwork exhibit

Los Angeles artist Jennifer Anderson explores human stories through her works in the Harry Krug Gallery through Wednesday, Nov. 18. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Fiction reading

The PSU English Department will host a fiction reading by Michael Thomas at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in 109 Grubbs. The event is sponsored by Distinguished Visiting Writers Series and the Student Fee Council.

Broadcasting awards

CAPS-13, PSU's student cable channel, is a national finalist in the 2009 CBI National Student Production Awards in best live sports production and best documentary/public affairs. Winners will be announced at the National College Media Convention Thursday, Oct. 29, to Sunday, Nov. 1, in Austin, Texas.
