The HHPR Department will be offering summer sessions of Lifetime Fitness Concepts, Dance Appreciation, and Lifeguarding beginning May 18. These courses will last three weeks. For more information, call the HHPR Department at 235-4665.
Banquet held
for grad students
The annual Graduate Student Awards Banquet is 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom in the Overman Student Center. The banquet is to recognize outstanding graduate students with departmental awards in the areas of scholarship, research, teaching, professional service, and the 2009 Research Colloquium and Distinguished Thesis winners. Tickets are available in the Continuing and Graduate Studies office in 112 Russ Hall. Tickets cost $16 for faculty, friends and family, and $12 for students.
KDOT hosts
song contest
The Kansas Department of Transportation will sponsor a Sobriety Rocks songwriting contest, and all entries must be turned in by Thursday, April 30. The contest is to encourage people underage to say no to alcohol. The top three entries will be awarded Best Original Song, Best Original Writing, and Best Original Art, each including a $1,000 scholarship to an accredited college or post-high school training program in Kansas. A celebration for spring and summer 2009 graduates will be held at President Bryant's home at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 28. There will be door prizes and gifts that include iPod Shuffles, PSU diploma mats, Ted Watts gorilla prints and more. Students must be registered by 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 24. To register, call 235-4763 or email ltaylor@pittstate.edu. Students not graduating in the spring or summer 2009 semesters can attend, but must pay $5 by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24.

The HHPR Club will host a fundraiser 5k fun run/walk on Saturday, April 25. Registration is at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m. The race is free for students, and there is a $5 entry fee for non-students. For more information, call Ana Girth at 719-0938 or email aagirth@pittstate.edu.
